Since the Volunteer Center updated the general regulations in 2024-2025 and the Civil Code of Quebec, we give all our volunteers the freedom to choose whether or not to become active members of the Volunteer Center.
Active members of the organization are individuals who volunteer with the organization and have completed the membership form for the current year. As members, these volunteers are committed to:
- Comply with the letters patent and the general by-laws of the organization;
- Be interested in promoting the organization's mission;
- Submit to the process of responsible volunteer management;
- Abide by the organization's code of ethics and any other policies in effect within the organization.
Member rights
- Be invited to general meetings and have the right to speak, propose, support, and vote on resolutions at meetings.
- Sit on the board of directors.
- hey may be invited to participate in committees set up by the organization.
Member benefits
- They can participate in training sessions and information meetings dedicated to them in connection with the organization's community life and their roles and responsibilities as members. For example, training on the eight criteria of autonomous community action, the history of the community movement, etc.
- They can participate in surveys, consultations, etc.
- They can participate in activities specifically for members only.
Membership is renewable annually and any member may withdraw from the organization by sending a notice to this effect to the Board of Directors. To avoid potential risks of conflict of interest and roles, employees cannot be active members of the organization.
